Pondstock

Pondstock 2000

The debate over what was the first “Pondstock” raged on for many years. However, some facts have never been in dispute:

-  The first seafood boil party was at Tom O’Rourke’s house.

-  The party included live music by Mike Piotrowski and friends.

-  It was on a Pond.

Tom had lived in New Orleans for a short while prior to moving to St Charles.  In NO, he discovered the Cajun seafood boil concept, and along the way had recorded the “recipe” (highly coveted these days).        He went to Walmart, and had them ship a boil pot up from the South, as at the time this size pot was not stocked in store in the Midwest.

Mike was a co-worker of Tom, and he happened to play guitar and have a band.  Mike and his band played under a small tent at that first party.

So it has be argued that Tom and Mike are indeed the original founders.  However, the first use of the name “Pondstock” was not until the next year, in which Andy Baecker and Fletch Towell coined the name.

After many ears of contentious debate, heated argument, political posturing, and personal turmoil (typically over cocktails in the late afternoons) all parties have agreed that Tom and Mike are credited with the first Pondstock.
